Normal life, or something like that

Sorry it's been so long.  Consistenency is hard to get here.  What with holidays and then lack of internet!  When the internet is down it seems to be down for at least a week! Sigh! Makes me even further behind . . .  Oh well here goes

We got back from South L for Sandra’s final week.  Which was busy as usual, especially as Sandra was rushing about trying to finish things off.
-        She had her leaving party on monday evening at Bethesda.

Dancing to mango tree I think!
The end of the song, 'If you want to grow'
Sandra in her 'get up' the Bethesda ladies made for her
Joanna (Grace's child) drew the Venture (our borrowed car) in her card for Sandra, soo cute!
The kids made cards for her, this is one of them, Bwalya
Monday evening proved interesting as Sandra had a spiritual attack.  We spent the evening with some other Christians praying for her, while one in particular counselled her.
-       On Wednesday at Physio clinic we had a child come in that looked demon possessed.  I've never seen anyone look so terrified, at nothing.  And scream for such a long time, without tiring, also at nothing.
-       Thursday was a long long day.  Jono took Sandra to the airport, which took forever. I did Bethesda stuff, took 2 people to the hospital for consultations with a Dr.  Then was at home waiting for Jono to come home.
-       Friday was the Bethesda Bazaar.  We were so blessed to have many things donated.  We had lots of people turn up, and we made what seems to be a good amount for here.  It was more then I was expecting!!  While one Mum was buying things, 2 of the Bethesda kids took me to their house, I assume so they could show me where they lived or something!  Hard to know exactly given the communication barrier!

The thank you cards the kids made for the donors
We attended prayer and fasting at the base on Saturday morning.  I'm not a big fan of fasting, but none the less I've been doing it on occasions!  We then gate crashed some South African missionaries house to watch the mighty ALL BLACKS beat the Springboks.  We had a wonderful dinner and chat with them!
Jono gave the bible study at church on Sunday, which seemed to go well.

Week commencing 7th Oct
Highs – Sat we went for a walk to a little hill, of course I found it hard as I am super unfit, and it was soo hot as usual atm. One lacks motivation at the best of times, let alone in flat, dusty Kabwe!

Mmmm, sweaty jono and karlyn

During story time in class, normally one of the teacher/assistants translates for me so I can understand the children’s stories.  The cutest thing was one of the kids decided he’d translate for me (not that his English is that good, better than my Bemba though!).  When one kid was saying about putting in elecricty, he didn’t know what to say, so said something along the lines of “they put in pftt!” Much to the amusement of the teacher, and myself once she translated for me.
I was asked to help teach some kids how to swim (not that I know how to do that), given tempratures were so high then, I thought it would  be very noble of me to accept their offer.
Lows – Kabwe continued to be somewhat of a drain for me. We found out that we couldn't go up to Lake Tanganyika which is disappointing since we’ve been trying to go since we got here.
We attempted to book flights online for Peter and Brenda with our credit card (as they don’t have one) however this has caused many issues, Paypal/Emirates didn’t issue the tickets after many days, and many attempts to contact them.  Eventually, the following week, Peter went to Lusaka to buy them at Emirates.  He didn't have enough money so we then had to Western Union transfer some to him so he could get back.  Other- Jono has been providing assistance to Peter, helping him write a newsletter.

Hmmm - Doctor Death anyone??

Prayer thanks
- For safety while we've been travelling.
- Our work permits are finally ready (we haven't collected them from immigration yet though!)
- My physio registration is also finally ready (although that is in Lusaka, so getting it to me personally may still be an issue!)
- We've been feeling reasonably good this week, despite it feeling reasonably busy.
- For snippets of rain - it definitely makes things cooler, and occasional thunderstorms

Prayer requests
- For guidance about what to do when we return
- For continued safety as we travel
- Jono would still like some more thunderstorms, particularly a loud one overhead that is somewhat terrifying.
- That we would connect well with locals and missionaries
- That God would be number 1 our marriage number 2

Bethesda Prayer Items
- For Peter and Brenda as they lead Bethesda - there are many balls they have to juggle!
- For the Makalulu group, they seem to be struggling a little to get off the ground, which is partly Bethesda's fault as we've neglected it a bit.
- For the property for the new school
- For growth, spiritually and in number of the team.
- We haven't heard from Sandra but I'm sure your continued prayers would be appreciated
- For those involved in the accident, I'm sure they'll continue to need your prayers for quite some time.

OM prayer items
- For safety and enjoyable times as most staff take a break over Christmas and New Years.
- For good recruits for next year.
- For the building project to go well.
- For the leadership team to guide OM well.
