More on South L

I left you one day into our South Luwanga safari holiday.
The next day started at the same time :$ this time we decided to do a whole day drive.  Hoping to see a few different animals.  Both of us found by the end of it we were pretty tired.  Much prefer having the break/sleep/swim etc in the middle of 8 hours of safari madness.

Who will be the next lion victim??
Recouperating/cleaning after the big feed
Seems like the males from the other pride, joined this one for the feed!
The view where we stopped for lunch

The wilderbeast we spent the day trying to find!
The remains of the buffalo

Mongoose
The view from our varenda
Since we had such a great time doing the night drive on Sunday, we did another one on Tuesday.  We thought we'd have the day off, but changed our minds.  AND it was totally worthwhile!!

I'm falling in love with giraffes, they seem to have soooo many awesome pictures!! Who knew a giraffe would look so funny when it drinks!
Birdie for Malcolm
Another one (or two), one has a fish or something in it's mouth
We sadly didn't have a good front on picture
So that lion pride, totally caught another buffalo, we happened upon it when the buffalo was down, but still breathing, calling for help and kicking on occasions.  We were there about 30 mins.  It took about 20 mins for them to kill the thing.  Hard out!

Wednesday we had a walking safari to the bush camp which is where we spent the night.  It was pretty cool being out in the wild!  I found it funny being escorted to the toilet by an armed guard!

Snake on the window of our hut pre leaving into the wild

Ardvark hole, sadly no ardvark

The braii, which composed the main bit of our 3 course meal.
Thursday we walked back (so essentially a second walking safari) and since we were so in love with night drives we did another one!!

Sunrise, well just after
The 'resident' hippos near our camp
Buffalo approaching the river
One of the small five maybe a lion ant?

Spot the bird! It was so hard to see.  Our scout had mean as eyes to spot it.  It took so much direction before we finally saw it!

Porcipine quill
Busy workers carrying all those big leaves/grass to their hole!
Wild snake!! EEeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
View from the camp site (not the bush camp)
Birdie again - need Malcolm to identify . . .
The pool which was used soooo often.  I miss having a pool!

Stupid fisherman.  Don't you know there's crocodiles in this river.  They eat people.  They've eaten 5 this year.

Lots of elephants (for South Luwanaga)

Hyena
Servet maybe?

South Luwanga safari's for the WIN.  We had an awesome time!

Friday we headed home.  We left at 4.45am and arrived back in Kabwe around 8pm.  That was a LONG day of travelling.

Pictures from the journey home

This has to be the funniest cardboard window I've seen!
Sandra had wanted our keys while we were gone so she could use the internet.  However she lost her phone, so we couldn't contact her.  She failed to inform us of that, or the fact that the boys that live in the same compound as us still had the keys cos she'd been to busy to go and get them :$ Sigh.  So we turn up at the place Sandra is staying.  The people who used to live there had just moved out and some new people just moved in (while we'd been away) They were so nice, offered us a place to stay, which we gratefully accepted about 9.30pm as Sandra hadn't turned up back at her place by then.  Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers!!! Only in the morning when we woke up and found Sandra did we find out that our keys were still at our place! Sigh.  I assume the rest of Saturday was pretty chilled out, I can't remember.

Sunday we get up to go to church, and who do we find outside our gate but one of the Bethesda children Samuel! (Jono had done the supermarket shopping the previous day, got back to the car and found Samuel sitting inside the car, he took him home to our place briefly before heading back into town to get something, he must have remembered the way!).  So of course you do what any Christian would do on a sunday morning we took him to church!

Prayer items - see previous post - not a lot has changed in the past few days
