I hope you've noticed how hard I've been working to catch up on the blog!! I think this is the third week in a row I've put out a post! Go me! (I don't know how long it'll last though!! Might depend a bit on internet access)
Week commencing 17th August (Ok so I'm still massively behind!)
The highs
- We went with a bunch of missionaries to Mulungushi dam. It was wonderful to get out of Kabwe and do some walking/rock climbing (Jono foolishly wore jandals). We also had a pretty stella picnic.

Naughty people - tut tut |

Heading to climb some rocks |

The stream that shoots out from the dam |

Richard the mighty conquerer! |
|
We also conquered, but are less posers |

Upon the rock of doom |

The jet of water, up close |
|
This apparently used to be a waterfall, all dried up now :( |
|
Not very flattering, the climb back to the car |

Chilling out before 2nd lunch |
- We had Monday and Tuesday off. Nice and refreshing. We borrowed the ‘Prison Break’ series from
our neighbours, have been enjoying watching that (We continue watching the series, still enjoyable!).
- It’s was a quieter week, which has been nice to
try and recharge.
- We had a missionary family around for lunch
which was nice. Got the kids to help
make their own pizza, which they seemed to enjoy.
- We went to a leaving do for Jasper (the high
wasn’t that he’s leaving! We will miss him, but we enjoyed the time there
socialising). Had a braii, enjoyed
playing some sports.
The lows
- We’d been feeling a little worn out and home
sick at times.
The other stuff
- We did quite a bit to prepare for wheelchair camp.
Week commencing 26th
The highs
- Wheelchair camp seemed to go off fairly smoothly
on Wednesday.

|
- There was plenty of baking (which I was pleased
about as I was in charge of that!)
- I had Friday morning off, Jono had the whole day
off (We love breaks! Especially when it's been busy!)
- We went to the birthday party of a OM
child. It was nice and we got to swim in
a pool which was great (It's strange how rare pools are here considering the heat!)
|
I think the kids are dancing or something here |
The lows
- It was a busy BUSY week, with wheelchair
camp. That meant several late finishes and early starts.
- I had been having some stomach issues, which took about a week to sort themselves out, but did :)
- The other stuff
- I gave one of the missionary guys a haircut, I’m
turning into quite the barber (not a very good one though! Lucky people here don’t have as high standards!) Since then I've noticed that he's been wearing a hat quite a bit . . . HMMM
In other news, Jono is rating himself as a poet, so here is his first poem to be published on the internet. This poem is inspired by the "different" roads in Zambia
Tarmac Love Poem
Oh tarmac, how I love thee.
Thou art lovelier and smoother than potholes.
I love to glide along thee as a swan glides upon still waters.
I would lie upon thee also if thou weren't so hard and uncomfortable.
Thou art a pleasure and my heart's desire when my car becomes airborne on roads less travelled

Prayer thanks
- For safety while we've been travelling
- We've had some good deep conversations with some missionaries here in the last week, really opened our eyes to some things.
Prayer requests
- For continued safety while we travel.
- For my physio registration
- That we'll connect well with locals and missionaries
- That God will be number 1, our marriage number 2
Bethesda prayer items
- Thanks that the Bazaar (held on friday) went well
- For Sandra's spiritual and physical healing (she had a bit of a spiritual attack on monday) and that she'll settle in back home well (she left on thursday).
- For the land application
- For increased financial support
- For the team to expand and grow for the future
- For Bernard's electronics application
- For those involved in the accident on the way home from wheelchair camp
OM prayer items
- A MASSIVE thanks, OM Zambia has been given enough money to finish their building project (dorms, a hall, an office block, staff and student housing) which is a LOT of $$
- For Pastor Melvin, they didn't appoint a new leader, so he's staying on another year
- For the students (discipleship, missions and teacher training course) to learn lots.
Great to read your blogs and see the photographs. Know that you're in the place God wants you to be at this time. Know that you are making a difference in the lives of those you work amongst and that God values what might seem insignificant efforts to care for people. See Matthew 10:42. We continue to pray for you daily. Luv - us.
